Tolled from opening until February 2008, when tolls were abolished under the Abolition of Bridge Tolls (Scotland) Act 2008 (passed 20 Dec 2007, Royal Assent 24 Jan 2008). Since then the Joint Board has been funded by Scottish Government grant via Transport Scotland: the Transport Scotland Section 70 return for 2023-24 records capital funding of £6,441,289.90 and revenue funding of £1,721,784.20 (total £8,163,074.10).
