Almost nothing is held, and this page says exactly what.
This is a description of what Any Plate Check actually does, not a template with the name changed. Nothing on this site asks who you are, nothing asks for a registration number, and nothing held here could identify you.

The short version
Four sentences
- There are no accounts, so there is no profile of you to build in the first place.
- There is no advertising and no third-party tracker on any page, so nobody else is watching your visit either.
- No registration number is ever sent anywhere. The plate decoder runs entirely in your browser and stores nothing.
- There is no email list, no sign-up and no personal data held at all, so there is nothing to ask us to delete.

Can it identify you
These are plain numbers. There is no visitor identifier in them at all, not even a hashed one, so nothing in them relates to an identifiable person
A registration is worth one extra sentence. On its own it identifies a vehicle, and a vehicle can point at a person, so the cache is short-lived and holds no link to whoever asked. It is also why an individual report on this site is never published to search engines: the whole per-registration route is set to noindex and blocked in robots.txt, on purpose, even though indexing it would bring traffic.
Absences
What this site does not collect
A privacy notice is mostly useful for what it rules out. The list opposite is not aspirational, it describes the code that is running: there is no advertising script to load, no analytics vendor to send anything to, and no account system that could hold a profile.
The site loads no resource from any third party on any page. Fonts are served from the same origin as the pages, which means even the fact of your visit is not passed to a font host. There is no content delivery network holding a copy, and no embedded video, map or widget phoning home.
That is also why you are not asked to accept cookies. A banner exists to obtain consent for non-essential storage. There is no non-essential storage here, so there is nothing to consent to and asking would be theatre.

In your browser
One preference, stored locally
When you use the light and dark control in the header, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the next page loads the way you left it. It is a single value, it never leaves your device, and it is not an identifier. Clearing site data removes it and nothing else is lost, because nothing else is there.
On the server
One rented machine
The site and its small database run on a single rented virtual server. The hosting provider acts as a processor for whatever is stored there, which is a daily count of how often each tool was used and nothing else. Nothing is copied to a second system. The web server keeps only what it needs to serve pages and diagnose faults, and none of that is used to profile a visitor or joined to anything in the table above.
International transfers
None that involve you
We make no international transfer of personal data, because we hold none to transfer. Every page on this site is built from data held in the repository, so the site makes no outbound request on your behalf at all while you read it.
Your rights
What you can ask for, and how to ask
Under UK GDPR you have a set of rights over personal data held about you. On this site most of them have very little to act on, which is the point of building it this way rather than a way of avoiding them.
The rights themselves
- Be informed. This page is that, and it is written to be read rather than to survive a reading.
- Access. Ask what is held about you and you will be told, in full. For most visitors the honest answer is nothing.
- Rectification. Correct anything held about you. There is nothing on file to correct, and the answer to a request will say so.
- Erasure. Have anything held about you deleted. Done on the day it is asked for, on the rare occasion there is anything to delete.
- Restriction and objection. Object to any processing that relies on legitimate interests, and it stops unless there is a reason it cannot, which would be explained to you.
- Portability. Ask for whatever is held about you as a file. It would be an empty one.
- Withdraw consent. No processing on this site relies on consent, because there is no sign-up and no mailing list to consent to.
How to exercise them
Email hello@kerbwise.co.uk with Privacy in the subject line, and say which of the above you want. There is no account to verify against, so a request will be answered honestly rather than matched to a record, and for almost every visitor the honest answer is that nothing is held.
Requests are acknowledged within five working days and answered within one month, which is the deadline UK data protection law sets. There is no charge, and you do not need to give a reason.
If you are not satisfied
You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at any point. You do not have to raise it with us first, although it is usually quicker. GOV.UK publishes the route and the contact details on its data protection page, which lists the ICO helpline as 0303 123 1113 and its public contact form at ico.org.uk.
Automated decisions and profiling
There is none of either. The condition figure shown on a vehicle report is a calculation about a vehicle, worked out from its published test record and shown to whoever asked. It is not a decision about a person, it has no legal effect on anybody, and nothing on this site sorts, scores or segments visitors.
Children, security and changes
The site is aimed at people buying, selling or running a vehicle, and it holds nothing about children. There is no table with personal data in it at all, and access to the server is by key rather than password. Every page is served over an encrypted connection. If this notice changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top changes with it and the substance of the change is described rather than folded into a general update.
