Assumptions

Caveats

  • These monthly, yearly and saving figures are calculations from the published per-crossing price, not figures published by the operator.
  • All figures from the operator's toll page and SI 2025/457 (both fetched 7 Sep 2026). The operator's toll page carries no printed date; the 12 May 2025 effective date comes from the operator's toll-charges news article (06/05/2025). Other-class tolls in the news article were described as pro rata; the exact figures above are from the toll page and SI schedule.

How and when to pay

  • Toll is due at the time of crossing at the plaza. If it cannot be paid (a violation is recorded), 5 days to pay the toll plus a £2.60 admin fee; from day 6 the admin fee rises to £60. A refusal-to-pay debit note gives 5 calendar days before legal recovery.
  • Cash and card at the toll plaza (eastbound); TamarTag pre-paid electronic tag account (windscreen tag) at 50% discount; violation payments online via tags.tamarcrossings.org.uk.

Penalty for late or missed payment

Not a PCN scheme. A violation (toll not paid at crossing) can be settled within 5 days for the full toll plus a £2.60 administration fee; after that a violation notice requires the toll plus a £60.00 administration fee. Refusal to pay: debit note for toll plus £3 admin fee, then legal process after 5 calendar days.

Discounts

  • TamarTag pre-paid account: 50% off all tolled classes (car £1.50 instead of £3.00); admin fee 80p per month (increase to £2 consulted on in 2026, not confirmed)
