History

Bridge authorised by the Aldwark Bridge Act 1772; tolls previously revised by SI 2005/2117. Closed for major refurbishment in 2023 and formally reopened 17 February 2024. Toll increase applied for 16 July 2024, public inquiry held, and SI 2025/975 came into force 10 September 2025 with a 10-year stepped schedule.
